Symbolic Dimension and Postmodern Fallacy
Keywords:
Contemporaneity, Discourse, Subjectivity ProductionAbstract
In this paper we discuss contemporary symbolic production by reading authors who look into the complex and tense relationship between ideas of modernity and post-modernity: Latour, Baudrillard, Debord, Lyotard, Deleuze, Jameson, Pelbart, among others. Foremost we follow the path of these theorists, approaching the French Discourse Analysis theory, which is a subject located 'in between', a field of interpretation and political positioning about discourse, that is produced in and by social life, as understood by Pêcheux. Aiming to understand contemporary symbolic features, we ask how the consumerist desire is produced in cultural spaces, which affect social imagination, creating subjectivities and implying in new modes to be in the world and relate socially.Downloads
