Abstract

In this essay we are concerned with the discussion on a matter of great contemporary interest: the relationship among language, interaction and cognition and their contributions to the field of Health. The first issue we face relates to the interdisciplinary vocation of Neurosciences. The second issue deals briefly with the relationship between basic and ap-plied science which is viewed in general from a dichotomous perspective due to the naturalistic frame that characterizes the fields of Neurosciences and Neurolinguistics, the later dedicated to the relationship among language, brain and cognition. To illustrate our considerations, we take into account the context of aphasia and Alzheimer’s disease. Finally, we outline consid-erations about the challenges posed to the relationship among these three elements – Cogni-tion, Neurosciences and Health.
