Abstract

This work discusses the notion of authorship in the domain of oral genres, based on the analysis of three extracts from discourses produced in the academic environment, namely a class, a seminar and a meeting. Based on Bakhtin’s ideas, it is assumed that every discourse suffers generic coercions, and that each statement illustrates the style of a particular genre related to a specific field of human activity (Bakhtin, 1953/2000). We are interested in discussing the room for authorship within genres, which results both from a discursive project and from the work the individual carries out in the available spaces.
