Abstract

The present paper makes a comparative study of the theories of Reichenbach (1947) and Rojo & Veiga (1999) concerning the linguistic structuring of tense relations at the level of the sentence and of discourse. First, these theories are compared in terms of orientation, representation and arrangement. Next, the propositions for tense structuring beyond the limits of the sentence are analyzed, that is, how these theories structure tense in the text.
