Abstract

Based on the theories of French Discourse Analysis, this study makes an exposition of how the phenomenon of authorship occurs. The study develops from a discussion on what one thinks is necessary in order to be an author, while evincing those mechanisms that lead the discursive subject to the author-function (FOUCAULT, 1981), his/her movement within discourse, his/her conversion into an author in his/her own right. The present text focuses how the subject, by means of the process of authorship, empowers him/herself as the producer and builder of the poetic-linguistic discourse, and takes on compromises with clarity and coherency, and becomes responsible for and makes visible to society the meanings that he/she produces.
