Abstract

The present text aims to explore the methodological order of study of language, such as proposed by Russian thinker Valentin N. Voloshinov, in his book Marxism and the Philosophy of Language. For this purpose, this text develops three sections, which seek to correspond to the three points of the methodological organization mentioned. Firstly, this text presents the close link between types of communication, social practices, and specific forms of utterance. Then, the present text focuses on the extraverbal part of the utterance. Subsequently, this text discusses the verbal part of the utterance. Finally, in addition to these three sections, this text provides a brief exemplification. The present text contributes to reinforcing the special place that the Russian thinker attributes to expressive intonation, taken as the most complete realization of social evaluation.
