THE UTTERANCE “LULA LIVRE” AS A DISCURSIVE EVENT

Abstract

This article explores how the release of the then-former president Lula in 2019 constitutes a discursive event. So, we anchor ourselves in the theoretical-methodological contribution of French Discourse Analysis with a Pecheuxtian orientation, mobilizing some of the devices that make up this perspective: conditions of production, discursive memory, discursive formation, ideological formation, and subject position. We therefore analyze the way in which this historical event is discursivized and produces effects of meaning, taking into account possible paraphrastic and polysemic elaborations of the utterance “Lula Livre”. Considering the different modes of meaning of this event/utterance, given the subject position that utters it or is challenged by it, we point out how what is sayable is “regulated” by the ideological conditions of speech production.
