Abstract

This study analyzed the main Brazilian cultural characteristics and their impact on international negotiations. The method chosen to develop the research was a qualitative- exploratory study with the application of individual interviews, four of them held with experts and eight others with negotiators from different nationalities that have frequent contact with the Brazilian culture and executives. It was evidenced that cultural factors, such as large power distance, collectivism, nepotism, high uncertainty avoidance, short-term orientation, spatial proximity, inferiority complex and religiosity, are characteristics present in the Brazilian culture and that can influence negotiations which involve interaction among people from different nationalities.
