Based on the perspective of the Historical Materialism, the present paper discusses those formulations by the French poet Charles Baudelaire for modern art in the nineteenth century Paris and its actuality. With a focus on those considerations present in the famous The Painter of Modern Life, an analysis is made on the desired role for a more consequent political art, as well as the protagonists who will carry on such an art with a variety of artistic expression, including photography.Downloads
