Carl Einstein: the Building of a Mythological Reality

Abstract

The present text introduces the Dadaist critic Carl Einstein, an influential thinker in the field of the modern arts, and still unpublished in Portuguese. Following the introductory text by Raul Antelo, one will find two translations of texts by Carl Einstein related to Latin-American arts: “Os antípodas” (Die antipoden), dedicated to the book Bárbaros e clássicos, by art historian Wilhelm Hausenstein, and “Tapeçaria peruana da coleção Gans” (Peruanisches Bildgewebe der Sammlung Gans), both published in the German magazine Kunstblatt em 1922.
