Acute coronary syndrome second year season: based on Chinese Traditional Medicine

Abstract

Objectives: To know the season of the year that affects acute coronary syndrome. Methods: Data collection was performed in a tertiary public hospital in southern Brazil, by daily active search of all patients hospitalized for diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome from March 2012 to May 2013. Results: >ey had 94 patients who developed coronary syndrome during the collection period. Of these 43, 9% (n = 40) had acute coronary syndrome in the summer season. >e highest percentage of this event occurred in the age group of 61 to 70 years (20.87%), in males and females in the age of 81 to 87 years with 50%. Both genders had a higher incidence in summer. It is noteworthy that between the ages of 41 and 50 years and 51 and 60 years the female gender was more affected with the circumstance of coronary syndrome in the summer represented by 14.28% and 12.08% respectively. Conclusions: Coronary syndrome occurred more frequently in the summer season in both men and women.
