Abstract

This study aimed to historically narratehowcertain eventshave contributed tothe onsetand development ofthermalpracticesin Brazil.Someof the firstandmost important stepsof the medicalhydrology will be presented: from theconstitution of hidrology(latercrenology) of the late 19th century tothe 1950sin Brazil.Throughout the textit will be possibleto understand somespecific forms ofhumanexperiences withthermal waterthatwere only possiblethanks toscientific knowledgesettled ineach periodof that history.
