Abstract

This report aims to describe the experience of a group of elderly where different methods of exercises defined as Integrative and Complementary Practices (Lian Gong in 18 Therapies, Lien Chi, diaphragmatic breathing) and Physical Therapy exercises (exercises to contract and relax and Vestibular Rehabilitation) that were com¬bined to perform group exercises. The practice with the group of elderly weekly happened in the Social As¬sistance Reference Center, in the neighborhood of Jardim Taquari in Palmas, Tocantins. This neighborhood is characterized by great social vulnerability and large consumption of analgesics, especially the elderly addres¬sed. This experiment took place between November 12th and December 17th, 2014 and participants provided positive feedback such as improved mood and sleep quality, and demonstrate engagement with the exercises and integrate with the instructor. This experience suggests that an approach that combines several Integrative Practices and Physical Therapy exercises may be appropriate, successful and secure as health promotion re¬source.
