Abstract

The objective was to discuss the conception of Naturology graduates that work or worked in the National HealthSystem (SUS), about the work of naturologist in SUS. A qualitative study, exploratory and descriptive, done through field research, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with nine naturologist in five brazilian states and the data were treated by means of thematic content analysis. The results were described in four categories: (1) Characterization of Naturology in SUS, (2) Profile and Role naturologist public health, (3) Contributions from the naturologist services provided by the SUS and (4) Difficulties and challenges for the naturologist insertion in public health service. It is considered that the work of naturologist has contributed in multidisciplinary teams and the health of the population served, however it is evident the need to regulate the profession and improvement of Naturology graduates for the needs of public health in Brazil.
